Abstract
A new porphyrin FeBr [TCPP-(CH3)4]·0.5(CH3OH) (1), (TCPP = meso-tetra (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin), has been synthesized via a solvothermal reaction and characterized by X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is characterized as an isolated structure with a distorted nonplanar porphyrin macrocycle and an embedded FeIII ion coordinating to four pyrrole nitrogen atoms and one bromine atom. The TCPP is esterified with methanol. The reaction mechanism and photophysical properties were explored.
