Abstract

A new compound [Zn(C2O4)(bimb)]n·nH2O (1) (H2C2O4 = oxalic acid, bimb = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)-butane) has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 exhibits two-dimensioanl layer structure. The intermolecular O-H···O interactions extend the compound 1 into 3D supramolecular architectures and play an important role in stabilizing compound 1. Furthermore, the solid-state fluorescence spectrum of the compound 1 was studied. The compound 1 exhibits intense broad emission at 520 nm at room temperature.
