Abstract

A new coordination polymer, [Cd(pta)(BPMP)]n(1) (H2pta = p-Phthalic acid BPMP = 1,4-bis(3-pyridylmethyl)piperazine), was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, and EA. The complex, [Cd(pta)(BPMP)]n (1), is monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 17.212 (3) Å, b = 6.206 (4) Å, c = 20.697 (6) Å, β = 94.834 (7)°, V = 2203 (2) Å3, Z = 4, Mr = 546.89, Dc = 1.649 g/cm3, F(000) = 1112 and μ = 1.031 cm–1. The final refinement gave R = 0.0214 and wR = 0.0564 for reflections with I > 2σ(I). X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the title complex [Cd(pta)(BPMP)]n (1) displays a dia network. Furthermore, the luminescent property of complex 1 is investigated.
