Abstract

Two new binuclear copper(I) complexes, [Cu2(CH3CN)4 (dppm)2](BF4)2 (1), [Cu2(pmk)(dppm)2](BF4)2 (2) (dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane, pmk = bis(2-pyridylmethyl) ketazine), were designed and synthesized. These complexes were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, 31P–NMR, UV-vis spectrum, and X-ray crystal structure analysis. The structural analysis reveal each copper(I) in the complexes is four coordinate N2P2 and adopts a distorted-tetrahedral geometry. At room temperature, all the complexes exhibit middle or weak photoluminescence in the solid state (485–504 nm) or acetonitrile solution (380–585 nm).
