Abstract
Reaction of equimolar amounts of Pd(OAc)2 with Schiff base ligand (C6H5CH˭CH‒CH˭N‒C6H4‒2OH) L gave the dimeric acetato bridged cyclopalladated complex 1 with folded open book shape structure. Complex 1 is treated with NaCl, NaBr, and NaI and gave the corresponding halido bridged complexes 2, 3, and 4, respectively with unfolded planar structure. Reaction of complex 2 with pyridine and complex 3 with triphenyl phosphine gave the monomeric complexes 5 and 6, respectively. The ligand and complexes tested as antimicrobial agents and showed variable activities as antibacterial and antifungal agents. Also, ligand and complexes were tested in vitro for their antitumor activity against MCF-7 tumor cell lines.
