Abstract
A new Cd(II) compound, namely [Cd2(phen)2(L)2]n·n(H2O) (1 H2L = 5-(benzyloxy) isophthalic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), has been successfully synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that 1 features a one-dimensional (1D) chain structure. Under the guidance of the hydrogen bond interactions, neighboring 1D chains inserted mutually, giving rise to the final 1D→2D interdigitated framework. Moreover, the luminescent property of 1 was also investigated in the solid state at room temperature.
