Abstract
Nanocomposites of PbS and MCM-41 nanoparticles were prepared via an ion exchange route. The samples were obtained by sulfidation of the Pb2+ ion-exchange zeolite in a Na2S solution at room temperature. The catalyst is characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy. The effect of PbS, MCM-41 support and different wt% of PbS over the support on the photocatalytic degradation and influence of parameters such as PbS loading, catalyst a mount, pH, and initial concentration of dye on degradation are evaluated. The prepared catalysts exhibit high efficient photocatalytic activity on degrading methylene blue under UV irradiation.
