ABSTRACT

Biomorphic ZnO structures with different morphologies were grown by a simple and green technique using various biotemplates. The well-defined chemical of the biotemplates can be exploited for control of size and shape of the formed ZnO structures. The growth mechanism of samples could involve the role of preformed nucleus and used biotemplates to provide suitable conditions for oriented growth of primary nanoparticles. Therefore, the effect of biotemplates on structural and optical properties, especially morphology of ZnO structures, was investigated in this study. Optical properties of ZnO structures including nanorods, microrods, nanosheets, and nanoparticles were studied by UV–Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy techniques.
