Abstract

The nine complexes, (RC5H4)2Ti(O2CC6H4X)2 (R=H, CH3; X=H, o-Cl, o-OH, O-NH2, o-NHPh), have been conveniently prepared by the reaction of (RC5H4) 2TiC12 with 2 equiv. sodium salts of appropriate carboxylic acids in water containing acetylacetone. They have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H-NMR. The carboxylate ligands in the complexes coordinate to titanium atom in monodentate mode. The complexes contain functional groups (OH, NH2, NHPh), which are involved in strong intramolecular hydrogen-bonding.
