Abstract
The preparation and physical properties of the adducts of arsenic and antimony trichloride and antimony pentachloride with β-ketoamines of the types MCI3. 2R CCCHC (NHR) Me and SbCl5. MeCOCHC(NHR)Me (where M = As, Sb; R∗ = Me, Ph; R = Me, Et, i-Pr) have been described. The infrared spectra of the addition compounds suggested that the β-ketoamines are coordinated to arsenic(III) through the oxygen atom and antimony (III and V) through the nitrogen atom of the azomethine group. All the addition compounds have been found to be ionic in nature in acetonitrile.
