Preparation and Vibrational Spectra of Some Diaryl Antimony(III) Substituted Carboxylate Derivatives

Abstract

A series of hitherto unreported diarylantimony(III) carboxylates of the general formula, Ar. SbOCOR (Ar=C₆H₅, p-CH₃C₆H₄ and R =CF₃, CH₂C₁, CH₂I, β-c₄H₄N, β-C₄H₃O, p-CH₃C₆H₄, O-NO₂C₆H₄, m-NO₂CH₄, P-NO₂C₆H₄, O-CIC₆H₄, P-CIC₆H₄ m-NH₂C₆H₄ P-NH₂C₆H₄) have been isolated and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and ¹H n. m. r. spectra, conductivity, and molecular weight measurement. These carboxylates possess polymeric structure with the bridging ligand and are partially broken or completely broken in solution leading to a pyramidal structure with monodentate carboxylate moiety. Attempts to prepare ArSb(OCOR)₂ were unsuccessful.
