Abstract
Sulfamethoxazole has been shown to form complexes with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). The solid complexes isolated were characterized by conductivity measurement, elemental analysis and magnetic, spectral (UV-Visible, IR, and 1H NMR) and thermal studies. Sulfamethoxazole behaves as a monobasic bidentate ligand, binding the metal ion through deprotonated sulfonamide nitrogen and sulfonyl oxygen or isoxazole ring nitrogen.
