Synthesis, Magnetic, Spectroscopic and X-Ray Powder Diffraction Studies on Some 3d-Bivalent Metal Complexes of 2-Acetylfuran- and o-Hydroxyacetophenonesalicylaldazines

Abstract

Metal(II)complexes, M(afs)2 and M(has)(H2O)2 [M = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, zn; Hafs = 2-acetyl furansalicylaldazine and H2 has = o-hydroxyacetophenonesalicylaldazine]have been prepared and characterized. Magnetic and spectraldata such as electronic, ESR and IR were used to establish the stereochemistry and mode of bonding of the azines in the complexes. X-ray diffraction studies suggest a tetragonalunit lattice for Co(afs)2 and an orthorhombic unit lattice for Zn(afs)2 and Zn(has)(H2O)2.
