Abstract
Eight new heterocyclic tetradentate Schiff bases were synthesized by reaction of 4-acetyl-1-phenyl-3-methyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one or 4-acetyl-1-(3′-chlorophenyl)-3-methyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one with ethylenediamine, o-phenylenediamine, m-phenylenedia-mine or p-phenylenediamine and chromium(Hl) complexes prepared.' The complexes were characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, conductance, TGA, magnetic measurements, infrared and electronic spectral studies. The chelates were of octahedral structure and most of them have magnetic moments close to the spin only values. All the complexes show molar conductivities (in DMF) in the range for the 1:1 electrolytes. The complexes are of the type [ML [(H2O)2]NO3.
