Synthesis, Properties and Characterization of Some Mixed Ligand Complexes of Tin(IV). 1. Alkylxanthato(chloro)bis(β-Diketonato)tin(IV)

Abstract

A few mixed ligand complexes of the type XX′SnL₂ (where X =C1, X′ = S₂COCH₃, S₂COC₃ H₇-i, S₂COC₄H₉-n, HL = acetylacetone, benzoylacetone and dibenzoylmethane) have been prepared by the reaction of dlchlorobis-(β -diketonato) tin(IV) with sodium alkylxanthate in acetone under refluxing conditions. The new compounds, characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements, IR and NMR (¹H, ¹³C, ¹¹⁹Sn) spectral studies, probably have a distorted octahedral geometry and contain monodentate xanthates.
