Synthesis of tris(Isopropylisocyanide)bis(tri-p-Methoxyphenylphosphine)cobalt(II) Perchlorate. A Possible Intermediate in Cobalt(II) Reduction/Ligand Substitution Reactions

Abstract

The Co (II) complex, [Co (CNCHMe₂) ₃ {P (C₆H₄OMe-p) ₃ }₂) (ClO₄) ₂, is reported. Reaction data are consistent with this complex being an intermediate in reduction/ligand substitution reactions of Co (II)-organoisocyanide complexes with tertiary phosphines. Characterization data for this complex are consistent with trigonal bipyramidal coordination in solid and solution states.
