Abstract
Manganese(III) complexes of the type [Mn(sal2-pn)X(H2O)] and [Mn(sal2-bn)X(H2O)] where H2 sal2-pn and H2sal2-bn are N,N'-bis (salicylidene)di-iminopropane and N,N′-bis(salicylidene)-di-iminobutane, X = F, C1, Br, I and SCN and n = 1 or 0 have been isolated and characterised by microanalysis, room temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements and infrared and electronic spectroscopy. The complexes are high-spin, with evidence for tetragonal distortion.
