Abstract
Four novel mixed adenine-L-histidine ternary complexes of Cu(ll) and Ni(ll) have been synthesized in the solid state by the interaction of MCI2.nH20 or M(N03)2-nH2O with adenine and L-histidine (1:1:1) in triethyl orthoformate. The complexes have been characterized by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, magnetic measurements and infrared /electronic spectral studies. The carboxylic, the N imidazolic and amino groups of the amino acid participate in the bonding and the interaction of the metai ion with the adenine ring seems to occur through the N(9) site with additional participation of the N(6)H2.
