Abstract
The relationship between personality, discipline received, and communication apprehension was explored. Subjects (n= 203) were students in communications classes at a state university located in a metropolitan area. Statistically significant relationships were found between extraversion and those most frequently spanked; communication apprehension and introversion; introversion and abusive punishment; and communication apprehension and daily punishment. Distinct differences by Myers-Briggs Personality Type on communication apprehension were found to be significant at p < t301.
