The Application of Water-flood Technology for Different Oil Fields

Pages 377-382 | Received 25 Feb 2009, Accepted 31 Mar 2009, Published online: 15 Nov 2010

Abstract

Water-flooding is perhaps the most common method of secondary recovery, in which water is injected into the reservoir formation to displace residual oil. The water from injection wells physically sweeps the displaced oil to adjacent production wells. In this study, three different fields from different locations were studied for a possible water-flooding operation using software. Through the results obtained from the application, certain predictions were obtained about the water-flood performance of the oil fields studied. It was concluded that the water-flood is a good solution as a secondary recovery project for the fields studied.
