Abstract

Gordonia RIPI is a novel indigenous desulfurizing bacterium with the ability of desulfurization of the fuel's energy sources, isolated soil of Iran. This gram positive bacterium is stable in fossil energy and petroleum compounds and is able to catabolize dibenzotiophene to 2-hydroxybiphenyl and sulfite. This bacterium could be a suitable candidate in reduction of energy consuming in biodesulfurization regarding our data. In this study, the dsz operon and dszD gene of this strain were isolated, sequenced, and demonstrated high conservation between these chromosomal-encoded genes and its plasmid-encoded counterpart in Rhodococcus erythroplois IGTS8. The homology of dszD gene was 98% and the homology of dszA, dszB, and dszC genes was 87.5, 88.7, and 91.1%, respectively.
