Pages 2147-2156 | Received 17 Jul 2009, Accepted 21 Nov 2009, Published online: 26 Oct 2011

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of cleaning Şirnak asphaltite by salt flotation. For this purpose, experimental studies were conducted on a Şirnak asphaltite sample containing high ash and sulfur content. The effects of salt amount, pH, frother amount, and impeller speed on the flotation were investigated separately in different salt (KCI, BaCI2, FeCI3) mediums. The influence of FeCI3 on the removal ash and total sulfur was found to be important.

Notes

aThe sample was dried to constant mass at 105°C.
