ABSTRACT
As the most abundant metal on the earth, aluminum is one of alternative clean fuels. This work presents experimental studies on the reaction process characteristics in a specially designed reactor using Al-based metals as fuel. The experiments of different samples with steam in a thermogravimetric analyzer and special designed reactor indicated that Al–Li alloy had a better reactivity than Al–Mg–Li. The efficiency was 87.83% and H2 yield reached 1155.03 ml/g for Al–Li alloy. It is feasible to use Al–Li alloy as fuel to provide H2 and heat.
