Comparison and analysis of different methods for structural planes measuring in underground roadways

ABSTRACT

In rock engineering such as mine engineering and tunnel engineering, the rock mass structure plays a key role in the strength, seepage and stability of the rock mass. Therefore, the geometric parameter statistics of structural planes in rock mass engineering is an important geological survey work. Traditional rock mass structural plane measurement methods are limited by various on-site conditions. With the application of advanced measurement technologies in underground mines, the measurement methods of rock mass structural planes have also been updated. Among them, photogrammetry and 3D laser scanning measurement are new methods suitable for measuring the structural planes of underground rock mass. Through the detailed comparison and analysis of three typical structural plane measurement methods, the 3D laser scanning technology has proven to have an incomparable advantage in the collection of rock mass structure measurement. It has explored a new way for the rapid collection of rock mass structure plane occurrence in areas with harsh geological conditions.

Hongdi Jing

Hongdi Jing was born in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, China in 1988. He received the B.S. degree, the M.S. degree and the Ph.D. degree in mining engineering from School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University, Shenyang, Liaoning, China, in 2011, 2014 and 2018. His main research topics include rock dynamics, damage characteristics of rock material and rock stability control.

Xiaobo Liu

Xiaobo Liu received the Ph.D. degree in mining engineering from Northeast University, Shenyang, China, in January 2009. His research interests include Computer Application in Mine and Modern Mining Technology. From October 2016, he has been working as a Associate Professor at the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeast University, Shenyang, China. His research interests include Computer Application in mine and Modern Mining Technology.

Anlin Shao

Anlin Shao is an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and an expert on mining and metallurgical engineering. He is the vice general manager of ANSTEEL Group, the chairman of ANSTEEL Mining Group, the honorary president of China Metallurgical and Mining Enterprises Association, and the director of the Technical Committee of National Iron Ore Standardization.

Liancheng Wang

Liancheng Wang was born in Hulunbeier, Neimenggu, China in 1994. He received the B.S and M.S. degrees in mining engineering from Northeastern University (China, Shenyang) in 2012 and 2016, respectively, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Northeastern University. His main research topics include DEM and l development of mining simulation software.
