Abstract
Energy has always been critical for economic growth and social development. As economies develop, energy consumption grows more or less in parallel. An adequate and affordable energy supply is needed to meet the demands of industry, commerce, and domestic users and to enable the movement of people and goods. In this study, Turkish energy production, energy consumption, installed electric power capacity, energy reserves, energy policies, primary energy demand projection, and market evaluation are investigated and evaluated. Turkey has been experiencing substantial demand growth in all segments of the energy sector. The primary energy need of Turkey has been growing. Recent forecasts indicate that this trend will continue as a result of rapid urbanization and industrialization. Primary energy demand is projected to reach 150 million toe in 2020.
