Additional information

Eric Germain, Ph.D., is a policy advisor at the Directorate for Strategic Affairs within the French Ministry of Defense. He was previously a researcher at the Institut d'Etudes de l'Islam et des Sociétés du Monde Musulman. He is the co-editor with Nathalie Clayer of Islam in Inter-War Europe (Columbia/Hurst 2008).

Judd Birdsall is a former U.S. diplomat and a current Ph.D. candidate at Cambridge University. From 2007 to 2011 he served at the U.S. State Department in the Office of International Religious Freedom and on Secretary Clinton's Policy Planning Staff. He was also founding chairman of the Forum on Religion & Global Affairs. He is presently an editorial fellow with The Review of Faith & International Affairs.
