Abstract

There was a growing economic disparity between rural and metropolitan areas in the 1980s. A number of federal and state programs and initiatives have been proposed and enacted to help revitalize rural economies. This paper illustrates a research design that improves the collection and synthesis of local and nonresident input in the formulation of a local economic development plan.
