How Do Education Champions Promote School Innovation? The Mediating Role of Boundary Activities

& ORCID Icon

ABSTRACT

This study explores how champions promote innovation in schools. The model examines the mediating role of champions’ boundary activities (internal processes and external activities with the environment in which it operates) in the relationship between champion behavior and school innovation (creativity and innovation implementation). Eighty-six champions, 621 teachers, 267 subject coordinators, and 86 principals were studied. The findings reveal a positive relationship between champion behavior and internal and external activities, as well as between internal activities and school creativity. Furthermore, the results confirm the mediating role of internal activities in the relationship between champion behavior and school creativity.
