&

Abstract

The cultural entertainment industry (CEI) is gaining strong attention in Korea as a generator of growth and national wealth. The cultural entertainment can appeal to various markets and be built through creativity in the tourism industry, based on traditional culture and liberal arts. This paper emphasizes that a key for the sustainable success of the CEI in Korea is a profound understanding of the roots of the tourism and entertainment industry. It concludes with the following: (a) the CEI should be developed with the uniqueness and intangible contents of traditional Korean entertainment philosophy, and (b) the basic structure of the CEI consists of finding new personnel with creative talents and the efficient implementation of networks in the industry. This study adds significance, because it investigates the fundamental basis of the Korean wave and delivers a direction the relevant industry should maintain for sustainable developments.
