Abstract

The data that have been obtained by our laboratory and others on the effects of heat alone and in combination with radiation on cancer provided us with the biological basis and rationale for initiating clinical studies to evaluate whether hyperthermia when combined with conventional radiation therapy evokes an improved tumor control than thai achieved with radiation alone [1,2]. This paper reviews our experience with radiofrequency (RF) hyperthermia in the treatment of various superficial malignancies.
