ABSTRACT

Under the background of the ‘new normal’, this paper conducts a dynamic analysis of the sustainability of 13 Chinese-listed commercial banks. We found that the sustainability of 13 commercial banks followed a decreasing trend over the period of 2012–2016, the sustainability of State-Owned Commercial Banks (SOCBs) is the highest, except for the Bank of Communications (BCM). Notably, the sustainability of China Industrial Bank (CIB) stands out, this may be partly attributed to this company’s efficiency in coordinating society and environment as well as its early development of green credit business.
