Abstract
Recreating situations for a 4-year-old mentally retarded child who attacked and bit others was consequated with DRO, lemon juice and overcorrection at a preschool center for children at risk for severe developmental disabilities. Previous attempts by classroom teachers with reinforcement programs, time-out, verbal reprimands, and counseling had failed. Employing an ABAB design, biting was found to be directly under the control of treatment. The biting was suppressed and gains were maintained over a 10 month follow-up. The implications of the results are discussed.
