Abstract
This study describes newspaper chain development from 1993 to 2010 in Finland. Chain is defined as a publisher owning at least two subscribed newspapers appearing 1–7 times a week. As a background, the main features of the Finnish newspaper industry structure are presented. The results show a decrease in the number of chains from 24 in 2000 to 19 in 2010 and a decrease in the number of the group-owned dailies from 44 to 42. The share of the total circulation of the largest chains has decreased from 2005 to 2010.
