Dominique Maingueneau

Dominique Maingueneau is Professor of linguistics at the University of Paris-XII (Creteil). His research from the 1970s is focused on French linguistics and discourse analysis. He published many books in the latter area of study: from Initiation aux methodes de l'analyse du discours (Paris, Hachette, 1976) to the co-edition of a Dictionnaire d'analyse du discours (Paris, Seuil, 2002). His research associates a pragmatic outlook on discourse with linguistic enunciation theories and M. Foucault's Archeology. For a few years he has been working in the field of “self-constituting discourses” (philosophical, religious, scientific, literary…), that legitimate the whole discursive production.

John P. O'regan

John O'Regan is a Senior Lecturer in the Westminster Institute of Education at Oxford Brookes University, where he is responsible for the BA in English Language and Linguistics and teaches courses in communication, discourse analysis, and critical discourse analysis on various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. John is currently Deputy-Chair of the International Association of Languages and Intercultural Communication (IALIC).
