Abstract

Veterinary nurses practise good hygiene as part of their daily routine. However, patients with a diminished number of neutrophils in the blood require special care. When their defences are low, barrier nursing must be implemented

Therese Gillanders qualified in September 1999. She has worked for the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Glasgow veterinary school's small animal clinic. She is currently working for the PDSA in Glasgow and is studying for the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Medical)
