Abstract

This paper deals with an optimal boundary input problem for the identification of a non-linearity in a parabolic system. First the identification problem is formulated in a classical way using an Output Least Square Method. The optimal input problem for the identification is then set as an optimization problem where the sensitivity of the measured outputs to the parameters is to be maximized with respect to the control. This leads to an optimization problem with constraints on the control. A numerical example is illustrated for testing the efficiency of the method.
