Australian cricket: the diminishing light

Pages 45-55 | Published online: 28 Jan 2013

Abstract

Australian domination of world cricket has diminished. The failure of Australia's cricket team to advance through the 10th International Cricket Council's Cricket World Cup was taken as a tell tale sign. This article charts that decline, and the inconsistent response of the Australian cricket establishment to that fact. It considers the influence of other sports in Australia that have been successful at affecting structural change at the expense of cricket.
