The following article has been retracted from publication in the Taylor & Francis journal Journal of Maps:
John Carty and Aoife Ahern. Mapping the relationship between transport energy consumption and urban form characteristics for the Greater Dublin Area. Journal of Maps 2010, 6, 160–168. DOI: 10.4113/jom.2010.1074.
Upon investigation following correspondence from Dr Ahern, it has been determined that a section in the paper is substantially similar to that of an already published article titled, ‘Urban density and energy consumption: A new look at old statistics’ by O. Mindali in Transportation Research A, 2004. A second section is very similar to research that first appeared in a 2007 working paper titled, ‘Transport energy and consumption – What role can urban planning play’ by David Banister.
As a result, the article published in Journal of Maps has been retracted and should not be cited. It is Taylor & Francis policy that the Journal of Maps article be kept online, but also stating that the paper has been retracted, together with a link to this Retraction to ensure the integrity of the scientific record.
