Postcolonial studies and world literature

Acknowledgments

We would like to thank Middlesex University, the SF Foundation, and University College Dublin for funding the initial symposium on “Spectres of World Literature” at the Institute of English Studies, University of London, from which this collection emerged.

Notes

1. This understanding of “world-literature” differs slightly from that of Alexander Beecroft, for whom the hyphenated phrase designates the “world-system within which literature is produced and circulates” (87), which we prefer to call the world literary system.
