How poets build houses

Pages 213-224 | Published online: 08 Jul 2008

Abstract

This paper is about the siting of domestic buildings and a possible future sensitivity to site. Two interrelated ways of considering the site are introduced—a poetic way and an ontological way. In a future dominated by issues of ecological crisis, the paper discusses a number of philosophical considerations for the siting of buildings, including environmental issues, cybernetic issues, and issues to do with transience and permanency.
