Abstract

This theoretical investigation provides characteristics of shear-horizontal surface acoustic waves (SH-SAWs) in piezomagnetic cubic monocrystals. The wave characteristics for various cubic piezomagnetics such as Alfenol, Terfenol-D, Metglas, NiFe2O4, etc., with the coefficient of magnetomechanical coupling (CMMC) and are studied. Knowledge of properties of cubic piezomagnetics is beneficial to the design of smart devices, sensors, and actuators, as well as applications in non-destructive testing. Also, the obtained results allow us to choose apt materials to constitute piezomagnetic/piezoelectric laminate composites in the microwave technology.
