1. The shorthand “videogames” is used in this paper to refer to all video and computer games, irrespective of their platform. Videogames can be played on a video console in an arcade, on a handheld (for example Nintendo GameBoy) on a PC, on the Internet, or on a game console (for example Sega Dreamcast; Nintendo64; Sony PlayStation1 and 2; Microsoft Xbox; Nintendo GameCube).
