It is a pleasure to report that Robin Wilson, who is known in person or through his work to many of our readers, has been awarded the 2017 Stanton Medal, awarded every two years by the Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications for outreach activities in combinatorial mathematics. The citation reads as follows.

Dr. Robin Wilson has, for fifty years, been an outstanding ambassador for graph theory to the general public. He has lectured widely (giving some 1500 public lectures), and extended the reach of his lectures through television, radio, and videotape. He has also published extensively (authoring or editing some 40 books) on combinatorial ideas, written in a style that is engaging and accessible. He has provided direction, encouragement, and support to colleagues and students at all levels. His superb talents at conveying the beauty of graph-theoretic ideas, and inviting his readers and listeners to join in, have enthused many students, teachers, and researchers. Professor Wilson’s advocacy and outreach for combinatorics continue to yield many positive impacts that are enjoyed by researchers and non-specialists alike.

Readers will also be interested to know that a new issue of SCIAMVS: Sources and Commentaries in Exact Sciences is now available, containing articles by Takao Hayashi and Fabio Acerbi on the commentary traditions in, respectively, Indian and Greek mathematics. SCIAMVS is officially associated with both the British Society for the History of Mathematics and the Canadian Society for the History and Philosophy of Mathematics. Visit sciamvs.org to find out more.

Finally, from the next issue, the name of the BSHM Bulletin will change to British Journal for the History of Mathematics. The change, which is being made with the full support of the BSHM Council, reflects the fact that the Bulletin now publishes a wide range of articles across the whole spectrum of the history of mathematics, and most of its content no longer derives directly from the activities of the BSHM or its meetings. All other aspects of the format, layout, content, and policy of the Bulletin/Journal will remain unchanged, and it will retain a close link with the BSHM, which will continue to appoint and oversee the Journal's editors. Readers should notice no differences beyond the title, but it is hoped that to prospective authors in particular the new name will prove more attractive and give a clearer sense of the journal's scope.
