Notes

1. The books reviewed brought up some serious questions for me about best practices in writing academic work about sexual violence. While it is inevitable that this material will be uncomfortable to read, what is the ethical responsibility of feminist scholars to provide some type of content warning when it comes to writing about CRSV? This is especially important considering the possibility of these texts being taught in the classroom. Indeed, many people who read this work will be victims of sexual violence themselves.

2. Hendershot defines urotrauma as ‘an injury to the genitals, urinary tract, renal system, and perineum resulting from the explosive, concussive, and blunt forces produced by and through combat’ (43).
