Determinants of e-government service adoption: an empirical study for business registration in Southeast Vietnam

ABSTRACT

The study aims to examine the determinants affecting the adoption of e government services in Vietnam. An extended version of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model is employed to build the research model. The model is investigated through asurvey of 433 responses from small and medium enterprise (SMEs) owners in three Southeast provinces in Vietnam, and analysed using amultinomial logit model. The findings are expected to not only assist SMEs in their business registration process but contribute to quality improvement and promotion of e-government services in Southeast Vietnam.

Hoai Nguyen Trong

Hoai Trong Nguyen is Professor at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Asian Economic and Economic Studies (JABES) of UEH. His research focuses on topics such as sustainable development, educational internationalization, green growth, green behavior, public health, and smart city and regional development. Currently, he is the Vice Rector of UEH, in charge of international relations and academic research. At the same time, he was also nominated by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCMC) to be a member of the Education Accreditation Center. In addition, he is the Director of the Vietnam-Netherlands Master of Applied Economics, a joint program between UEH and the International Institute for Social Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Thanh Vu Dang is bachelor of RMIT Vietnam University, and a student of the Vietnam-Netherlands Master of Applied Economics, a joint program between UEH and the International Institute for Social Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Vien Van Nguyen is executive of Centre for Database and Economic Analysis at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). His research focuses on topics such as economic development, industrial park development, educational internationalization, smart city development, and food safety.

Tung Thanh Nguyen

Tung Thanh Nguyen is postgraduate student of Joint Doctorate Programme (JDP), a joint program between University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). His research focuses on topics such as smart city development and economic development.
