Abstract

A facile and green process in which K₂CO₃ in combination with the phase transfer catalyst tetrabutylammonium chloride was explored to promote the esterification of carboxylic acids with dimethyl carbonate has been developed. High yield and purity were observed for most of the investigated methyl esters.
