This special issue resulted from a technical session run by the TC Working Group II/6 Geographical Visualisation and Virtual Reality at the 22nd ISPRS Congress, held in Melbourne 25th August to 1st of September, 2012. A number of the participants we invited to extend their papers and also there was a public call for papers.
