Lauren Downing Peters is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Fashion Studies of Stockholm University. In her dissertation, Lauren examines the visual and textual discourses of large-size dress and bodies in American fashion media during two parallel historical moments (1915‒1931 and 1979‒2001). Prior to beginning her studies at the Centre, Lauren received her MA in Fashion Studies from Parsons School of Design.
