ABSTRACT
Doubts about energy resources are forcing scientists to seek new energy sources. Environmental concerns force scientists to evaluate less damaging alternative fuels such as biodiesel. The aim of this study is to evaluate the availability of bay laurel oil (BLO) in diesel engines as alternative fuel. In this work, the fuel quality of pure bay laurel oil is tested. The measured fuel quality values were density, cetane number, viscosity, pour point and flash point. According to the results, BLO has a low cetane number, high density and viscosity values, and also a high free fatty acid (FFA) value.
