ABSTRACT

In the present study, extracellular cellulase and xylanase production from isolated fungi Trichoderma koningii KY705013 was carried out under solid state fermentation. This study also focused on the influence of various parameters like carbon, nitrogen and divalent metal ions on the production of enzymes. Increased production of cellulase and xylanase was noticed at an optimal temperature of 35 °C and pH 6.0. Optimized media containing CMC as the carbon source and ammonium sulphate as the nitrogen source with 2 mM EDTA showed a total activity of 253.67 U, 120.15 U and 87.56 U for CMCase, FPase and xylanase, respectively. The results of the present study revealed an increase of approximately 60% in enzyme production using optimized media rather than un-optimized media.
